Dr. Molly Hayes Sauder and Rodney Sauder, MBA, CPA
Business as Usual?: Building Synergy Between Content and Professional Skills in the Classroom
Dr. Sauder is the Chair of the Department of Sport, Tourism & Hospitality Management in the Graham School of Business at York College of Pennsylvania and Rodney Sauder, MBA, CPA, is an Associate Professor of Accounting at Messiah University
This dynamic duo will discuss how research continually reveals gaps between the competencies of entry-level employees and employers' expectations, particularly in the areas of communication, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and professionalism. Of course, business educators only have so much time with students in a given class and thus it can prove challenging to work towards such competencies while also ensuring that business content is sufficiently covered. This interactive session will focus on the efforts of two business professors to create learning opportunities that require students to show proficiency in both business content and professional skills in real-world simulations. Time will also be devoted to attendees considering how similar work could be embedded within their work with students.

REMOVE MONEY, REMOVE CORRUPTION
If every worker got in exchange for their professional careers everything that they needed to have a happy, balanced life in a safe and healthy world governed by fair laws and modern practices, then our use of science and ethics to generate daily goods and services, as basic human entitlements, will have fulfilled the purpose of socialism: to ensure “universal protections for all by all” without using money anymore or national currencies to uphold private capital, maintain structural wealth, or support banks and financing and other profit-making activities.
